Hello! My name is Pantazis (Πανταζής) and I am a Greek Language teacher from Thessaloniki, Greece. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Greek Language and Literature from the University of Ioannina, and I am currently a graduate student in historical linguistics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During my undergraduate studies, I carried out two internships as a Modern Greek Language teacher. I also completed a course in Modern Greek proofreading and copy-editing at the University of Athens. I have been teaching Modern Greek for the last 8 years. My Modern Greek Language classes are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, according to which there are 6 levels of foreign language acquisition: A1 & A2 (Basic User), B1 & B2 (Independent User), and C1 & C2 (Proficient User). In my Basic User class (beginners), I use a textbook for both A1 and A2 levels, which has useful dialogue for everyday life, grammar theory, and exercises. We read the dialogues together, I give the meaning of every word or phrase, I explain the grammar theory, and I give some homework. We can also speak a little in Greek and do some grammar and vocabulary exercises together during the lesson. There are no vocabulary lists since the words are to be learned in a given context, using also my help. The book consists of twenty chapters, four of which are review chapters. In my Independent User class (intermediate), I use a textbook for both B1 and B2 levels, which has different kinds of texts, grammar theory, and exercises, but also a vocabulary list in each chapter. We follow the same method as above but we go deeper into the grammar and we try to speak mostly in Greek. The book is divided into twenty chapters, four of which are review chapters. In my Proficient User Class (advanced), I use a textbook for both C1 and C2 levels, which also has different kinds of texts, grammar theory, exercises, and vocabulary lists. Again, we follow the same method as above. We emphasize less common and more exquisite Greek expressions. We also learn some words and phrases from Katharevousa (the artificial and official language of Greece until 1976). Of course, we only speak in Greek and I explain everything in Greek (or in English, if needed). The book is divided into fifteen chapters, two of which are review chapters. I have shown you, my typical classes. In case you would like something else, feel free to suggest anything that suits you best. I am very flexible and I like adjusting my classes to my students' needs and preferences.
