Trusted teacher: My Psychology degree and 9 years of experience working with children with Neuro-divergence and additional educational needs prior to teaching have significantly shaped my approach to teaching. I prioritise relationship building and trust with students and their caregivers. I am patient, kind, and incredibly encouraging but have high expectations. I work with students for them to also gain high expectations in themselves. This may happen in the first few sessions or may take a longer period of time depending on the student. I help students gain high expectations for themselves by initially giving tasks where they are guaranteed success, then celebrating and reflecting on this success and how they were able to use the skills taught and their effort to complete the task. This builds a persons confidence and significantly increases the likelihood of attempting more difficult tasks. This is heavily proven by research (and seen in my classroom daily) known as the “theory of self efficacy” and the “theory of planned behaviour”. If a person does not believe a task is within their capability, they are incredibly unlikely to even attempt it (No matter how much we believe they can do it). It is my job to SHOW students they can do it by designing tasks and lessons in a way that they feel challenged finish with pride in their achievements. When teaching new skills I will show them first, then we will complete a task together, then they will apply the skills independently. I will be constantly assessing as they work independently and provide support where necessary. The ultimate goal is to phase back my support until they are using the taught skills correctly, consistently, confidently and independently. Lessons will vary depending on students needs. If caregivers want to spend a percentage of the lesson to discuss, that will be agreed upon. If there are specific targets you want me to cover then we can dedicate time for you to tell me these expectations. If you would prefer me to assess your student and gage where the gaps are and plan accordingly, that is also ok. I would suggest an initial session to meet, and discuss goals. Some classes you may benefit from: -SATs Prep -Phonics -Reading (comprehension, vocabulary, inferencing, predictions, explaining, retrieval, sequencing, summarising, making links, authors intent) -Spelling -Grammar (or Spelling and grammar combined) -Maths -Maths (arithmetic) -Maths (Reasoning and Problem solving) -Target specific - has your teacher said there are targets you need to work on in various subjects? -Science -History -Geography -Psychology (GCSE, A Level) Is your child in secondary school but needs support in the foundation subjects such as reading, writing or maths? Reading and writing is an essential skills in secondary school for every subject. I can support your child to close the gap so they can access all subjects with their peers. Having worked in secondary schools before, I have seen how much students are required to read and write in all lessons, but there will not be opportunities to learn these fundamental skills at school. I welcome students of all ages (including adults) from all backgrounds and of all abilities. I look forward to meeting you soon and celebrating the amazing progress ahead!

I have been tutoring since September and have thoroughly enjoyed helping my KS2 students in working on their English skills in preparation for both SATS and 11+. Following achieving my GCSE results, I now feel more prepared to move onto a larger range of subjects. I am passionate about helping students to do the best that they can and to reach their potential. It is hugely rewarding to see progress being made. I achieved 10 GCSE grades, with a grade 9 in English Literature, Language, History and Religious Studies, a grade 8 in Geography and an average grade of 7.5 across the board. All my grades were the equivalent of A* to B, the majority being A* and A equivalent. I believe that the best way to teach is through gathering and creating a large range of resources to ensure that all necessary content is being covered and that content is being accessed through a variety of mediums that will allow for it to be learnt and understood quickly. Furthermore, at this level, working with examination questions is essential. It is vital that students familiarise themselves with mark schemes and I will make sure to teach students how questions are marked, ensuring that the right structures are used too. Communication with parents is also key and I would deliver this through weekly or bi-weekly bulletins for groups and parent emails and phone calls too. Finally, I would focus on revision methods and make sure that you have access to a range of strategies that will make your learning experience more enjoyable, engaging and successful. Message me for a discussion and so I can confirm availability and offer more realistic, updated time slots.

I specialize in tutoring math, English , French and Science for school and the SAT exams. I have a very good teaching experience working with children and I got the chance to enhance my teaching skills during the pandemic when all educational institutions had to switch to online teaching. I successfully managed good discipline, good time management to assure completeness of syllabus and also fun loving class with good results at the end. I am confident about my abilities to make students love what they are being taught and be happy to join a class. The willingness and eagerness of joining a class is a two way traffic: both student and tutor must feel that eagerness and love to learn and teach. My own love for teaching creates a positive atmosphere that inspire students. I enjoy creating lesson plans that help students understand the subject . One of my strength as a teacher is my ability to establish strong relationships with my students. I believe that creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment is key to fostering student engagement and success. This class is for French beginners. I will start as simple as doing phonics and make you acquire the accent. In a globalized world, being able to speak a second or third language is something that offers people value for the rest of their lives. While there is a lot of evidence that says the younger a child learns, the better, children acquire pronunciation, accent, and grammar rules best. At the start , it will seem difficult or maybe impossible , but once you can onboard with me , after every lesson you will feel more confident. Class for Math , English and Science is basically for those attending primary school and sitting for SAT exams. A good start of preparing ,understanding and knowing where the child needs more support is very crucial. I assign simple homework to better understand their weakness and strengths and hereafter recommend handbooks as per their needs and we work together for better results.

My approach to teaching primary maths is rooted in the mastery framework, which emphasizes deep, long-term understanding rather than just surface-level memorization. This method is essential as it builds a solid foundation, allowing students to grasp concepts thoroughly and apply them confidently. I place significant importance on the use of manipulatives, as they offer hands-on experiences that make abstract ideas more concrete. By engaging students actively, manipulatives enhance both understanding and enjoyment, fostering a more meaningful and lasting connection with mathematical concepts. I use the Ruth Miskin phonics scheme in my teaching, which provides a structured, systematic approach to developing reading and writing skills. This method emphasizes the clear progression of sounds, blending, and decoding, helping children build confidence and fluency. By following this scheme, I ensure that students grasp phonics in a fun, engaging way, laying a strong foundation for their literacy development. With extensive experience across subjects like maths, phonics, writing, and teaching English as an additional language, I bring both expertise and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. My approachable nature ensures that students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking support, while my enthusiasm for teaching fosters a positive and engaging learning environment. I tailor my methods to each student's needs, making sure they build confidence and mastery in whichever subject they're tackling, and I'm committed to helping them achieve their full potential.

Jenny
great experience! we only had couple of hours of conversation, as I wanted to take the rust off my French during a trip in Paris. she was very open, easy-going and at the same time very helpful in pointing-out prononciation, words that I didn't know, etc. I'm sure she's great for classes over a longer time period too. highly recommended.
