Trusted teacher: I am offering structured English lessons for children to learn or play-based lessons for children to maintain and practise their English skills. Each lesson can be tailored to your child’s individual needs - whether they are already fluent in English or just beginning to learn :). During the first lesson I will assess your child’s level of English through a range of activities and conversation. This will allow me to gain a better understanding of their level of English and where is best to target. Each following lesson will then have a theme. For beginner speakers this will range from weather, sports, hobbies, colours, shapes, etc and for more advanced speakers writing, comprehension, reading and more complex phrases or English language grammar rules. At the beginning of each lesson we will review the previous lessons topic to ensure it has been retained before moving on to new knowledge. I use a range of resources to support my teaching including PowerPoints, prompt cards, images, bilingual cards and games. I have been teaching children for over 5 years and have a deep understanding of how they learn best and how to ensure progress. Each course will be specifically designed for each child to help target exactly where they are at and the goals they wish to achieve. Since the tutoring is 1:1, we are able to target individual goals. The course plan is always flexible and if there is a certain topic area you would like your child to learn about, we can include this :)

These classes are designed to help you achieve your individual goals. My aim will be to keep you motivated and engaged to learn and practice English during and outside of the lesson. Lesson plans will be created based on your individual goals, age, level and interests. Homework will be set regularly and balanced to avoid overwhelming students. Lessons with me will enable you to develop skills in: reading, comprehension, pronunciation, vocabulary, creative writing, writing including in a Business context (emails, reports etc.), conversational skills to improve fluency. Classes will be tailored for all age-groups and levels, including young learners. To give you the optimal learning experience, I will offer flexibility and personalised approach to meet your individual needs. You do not need to worry about how much or how little you know before learning with me. My professional background in HR and IT Project Management over the last 24 years, means I will listen to you and we will work together to make your learning journey enjoyable. Since early 2021, I have dedicated my time to volunteering to support children aged between 5 -10 years with basic literacy skills across England. This has included non-native speakers as well those children who might be behind the required levels. I have delivered nearly 140 reading sessions online during 2024 with a number of schools. My passion for teaching young learners in particular has grown to ensure everyone has a good start in life, communicating in a language which is recognised globally. It is always a pleasure to meet Phil for our weekly online French classes. He is a patient and kind teacher and always full of energy for our class. Phil is interested in a wide range of topics, so we always have something to talk about based on an article he selected as 'homework'. What I really appreciate about his way of teaching is that he corrects me during our conversation without breaking the flow of our talk, so I can really feel my confidence in speaking French increasing each class. Benson
After my first lesson with Benson, i have felt more confidence in my skills with chemistry than i have in many years. Where I previously felt very subconscious and unable to answer questions, i have now been able to answer difficult IB exams questions with ease. Benson provided me a safe and comfortable environment which has left me excited for my next class at school to show what i have learned with a fresh confidence! I highly recommend this tutor to anyone who struggles with confidence in both themselves and their subjects.
