Social science research is often a very intimidating subject. Many students are intimidated by the thought of conducting research. The course introduces and understanding of how research is conducted, how it differs from other classes and homework and why research is conducted in the manner it is.

This class is useful to all students. It will teach students to present thoughtful and supported work in their papers, understand the use of words and numbers, and how to present their work and the work of others in a professional manner. This will also maximize the critical thinking skills of students while giving them more confidence in their own abilities.

About Me

I suffered from stage fright ('speech anxiety') and found out the hard way, in front of a large audience. My future jobs I knew would require me to speak often in public, often under very difficult circumstances.

Not long after, I was sent to various engagements to be the speaker instead of others. I began teaching the subject at colleges in the evening and consulting with prominent public speakers to improve their skills and effectiveness.

What most don't realize is that those who fear communication or public speaking the most, almost always show the most improvement. It takes stumbling without fear, not worrying about mistakes and the realization that we all suffer insecurities. In other words, we manage, overcome and thrive.

Education

I have a PhD in research and have applied that to many areas, including public speaking, messaging, press conferences, group dynamics, systems, etc. I also try to recreate real-world settings and experiences so students can be wholly engaged in their own learning process.

Experience / Qualifications

I have been advising, consulting and actually conducting many public speaking engagements for 35 years. At a young age, I knew I was bad and had to get better. Within a short time, I was teaching college students how to do it in the evening, advising politicians on how to improve, and engaging regularly in public speaking events. Not all go well. However, just like anything, a person can learn far more by failures or when things don't go well then they do by successes.
Students will gain a much better understanding of US and international political and governing systems. This will be of great help to students to understand how culture, history, and communication impact various political systems. Issues will be examined objectively so students can gain a clearer understanding of what they see in the media and hear from friends, family and social circles. This course teaches how to look at the evidence and facts and remove bias in order to faint a greater understanding of various ideologies, political philosophies, and influences on political systems. The course teaches students how to think, reason and develop their own world views when they are ready and to understand the views of others as they learn about political influences.
This course is designed for students and participants of all backgrounds to vastly improve their public speaking abilities and confidence in communication. Rather than focusing on standardized methods, this course focuses on the individual speaker's needs and is tailored directly toward those areas that are assets as well as to improve on any weakness. The most important characteristic to improve is confidence, no matter how a particular speech goes. It's a process that turns fear into a challenge and then a challenge into fun. Public speaking is a very personal experience in a public setting. Each person is different and finding the approaches, methods, and styles that work for that particular person will help them to realize that not only can they do something most people hate, they may actually start enjoying it.

The course, ' What is sociology?’, is taken from a textbook. The textbook comprehensively explores sociology, aimed at both students and educators. It explores various aspects of sociology and provides a rich understanding of social structures and institutions and their impact on human behavior and the organization of society. The course follows the same lines as my textbook (which can be found on Amazon in French and English). The course is organized into 14 modules as follows: 1. Introduction to Sociology 2 . The Origins and Development of Sociology 3 . The History of Sociology 4 . Theoretical Perspectives in Sociology 5. Research Methods in Sociology 6 . Socialization and Identity 7. Social Structures and Institutions 8 . Social Stratification and Inequality 9 . Culture and Society 10 . Sociology of Religion 11 . Deviance and Crime 12 . Social Change and Social Movements 13 . The Future of Sociology 14 . Conclusion: A Reflective Journey Through Sociology Every time, the teacher starts by presenting the topic. The students are required to take notes. Then, we start the questions and answers to ensure the students understand what was said. Then, we summarize, and that ends the session. NB: There will also be a distribution of references for further reading on the subject. Overall, the course provides a theoretical foundation for understanding key sociological concepts and their application to analyze and resolve societal complexities. It will be supplemented by practical exercises in content analysis, text intelligence, etc.

A level Economics: Content, Structure and Perfection
A-level Economics is a significant step up from IGCSE and AS-level Economics. It can often seem daunting, leading some students to struggle with the basics and ultimately underperform. In the worst-case scenario, this can even extinguish their interest in a potentially rewarding career path. This course takes an innovative approach to breaking down the fundamentals of economics using real-world examples to foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Additionally, students will gain valuable A-level tips and tricks to significantly boost their grades and aim for A* or A. The course is led by Ameer Sarfarazhusain, a first-year student at the University of Warwick. The University is ranked among the top 5 universities in the UK for its Economics course and top 3 for employability in top investment banks. Ameer has over 5 years of experience in student leadership roles and has taught various subjects to high school students. As the founder of the AYEP, he also delivers environmental economics classes to young people across the MENA region. AYEP has even partnered with the United Nations to contribute youth policy inputs to COP28 in Dubai. In conclusion, this course will expertly unravel the complexities of A-level Economics, setting students up for success and potentially opening doors to a fulfilling career.

Bilingualism and Code-Switching: by popular demand
In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students. Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English. My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual. For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Medical student teaches SVT, biology and mathematics online
Hi! My name is Ali, a 4th year medical student with an overflowing passion for life sciences, biology and physiology. My academic background has allowed me to dive deep into these fascinating disciplines, and I have been fortunate to share this passion by teaching various students. Whether in the final year of high school, in the undergraduate program or even in private lessons for middle school students, I have helped learners demystify complex concepts in physiology, biophysics, immunology and biology. Nothing motivates me more than seeing a student overcome a challenge and understand a subject that seemed insurmountable. That spark of understanding is what I aim to provoke in each person I coach. Thanks to my varied experience with students of different ages and levels – from elementary school to university students preparing for competitions such as the LASS – I have refined a flexible teaching method adapted to each individual. Whether it is to explain concepts in depth, analyze errors in exercises, or mix the two, I am here to respond precisely to your needs. My age allows me to create a natural and fluid connection with my students, facilitating a climate of trust and exchange. Having completed my studies in basic sciences, I am ready to accompany you on subjects such as neurology, cardiology, and many others. Together, we will overcome academic obstacles to achieve your goals! Looking forward to starting this adventure with you!
