Writing is an individual and vulnerable process. When we creatively write, we are telling stories, and the effectiveness of each sentence affects how readers interpret our stories and us as writers. I know better than anyone how vulnerable it can be to share your writing. I also have an intimate understanding of the technical writing skills required to keep readers engaged and to get published. In this class, you'll learn how to: -Structure stories and paragraphs with appropriate beats and pacing. -Build complex, fully realized characters. -Write engaging, realistic dialogue in novel or screenwriting format. -Hook readers to the page using pacing techniques and red herrings. I can provide story and character consultation and feedback on your current projects. This is an advanced class. Please do not sign up for this class unless you have experience in creative writing. This may be a good class for a writer who has just finished their first novel and is looking for advice on editing and story consultation. It also may be a good opportunity for writers who have finished novels or scripts and are looking for advice on a new project. I have other areas of knowledge, such as Mathematics and Physics, so just ask and I may be able to tutor you in those areas too. This is only for students at A-level or below. Furthermore, this is not a counselling service, I can teach you about Psychology, but I am not qualified to assist with any psychological issues that you may have.

This class will introduce you to some building blocks for writing effective poetry. This will focus on imaginative and descriptive aspects of poetry, as opposed to technical and academic aspects. It also works for creative writing in general. However, it will specifically focus on some of the more playful and concise elements of poetry, as opposed to the structure and narrative of prose, for example. There are a lot of barriers and negative preconceptions around poetry which I am to dismantle - building confidence and making poetry feel fun, as opposed to fearful! Enthusiasm is more important to me than academic ability. I also welcome pupils who speak English as an additional language and will try my best to accommodate as many access needs as possible.
