CLARINET LESSONS (Classical/ Klezmer/ Jazz) PROFESSOR GRADUATE FROM THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF MUSIC AND CONSERVATORY OF PARIS
Translated by Google. Click to view original.
Welcome :)If you want to learn the clarinet, you've come to the right place!
I am a professional clarinetist myself, graduated from the Royal College of Music in London (Global No. 1 Institution for Performing Arts).
I am currently pursuing my concert career between Paris and London.
Between us the choice to become a clarinetist is admit the original!
But why this instrument rather than another?
I was hesitant myself when I started. I found the sax.. “cooler”.
But I finally fell in love with the clarinet.
This instrument offers an incredible variety of repertoire!
First of all Classical Music:
The clarinet developed at the same time as Mozart. The composer was immediately seduced by this new instrument with its soft, pearly sound; he fell in love with her and wrote a magnificent concerto for her (one of the most beautiful ;)). Subsequently, composers such as Weber, Schumann and Brahms will deploy all their knowledge and sensitivity to make the clarinet sing.
Jazz:
Since the appearance of this new genre, the clarinet reigns as a diva among instruments. Gershwin dedicated a legendary solo to him in “Rhapsody in Blue”. The instrument shines with this effect of its own: the glissando (sliding from one note to another in a progressive and continuous manner).
Subsequently, clarinetists such as Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Buddy de Franco... will forever mark the history of Jazz with their wild solos.
Klezmer:
If you don't know this genre, don't wait. Open Spotify or YouTube and type “Giora Feidmann Let's be Happy”.
Sorry for your neighbors. You won't be able to resist the urge to dance and jump around.
The clarinet, through the variety of sounds it can produce, perfectly imitates the modulations of the human voice: laughter, crying, singing...
How not to fall instantly in love with this instrument which allows such a wide range of expressions?
I have been teaching for 6 years now and enjoy sharing my passion for music on stage as much as in a more intimate setting during a private lesson.
I had the opportunity to refine my pedagogy throughout my various experiences in teaching and find simple and effective methods to allow the student to progress quickly.
My career as a classical conservatory musician and Jazz/Klezmer concert performer gives me the opportunity to offer a varied education.
I guarantee that in a month you will already be performing your first track in front of your awe-inspiring family!
I offer private lessons of Clarinet and or Solfège for children, adults, all ages from beginner to intermediate / advanced level (1st cycle / CEM / Specialized cycle).
My teaching is based on a personalized musical follow-up: Discovery - Methodical learning - Initiation to improvisation, Jazz or Klezmer - Perfection
-THE PLEASURE OF PLAYING-
Music is a game.
Despite the difficulties that the student may encounter in his progress, it is very important never to lose this fundamental dimension.
Mozart was also of a very mischievous nature and it was said of him that he was an eternal child!
My goal as a teacher is above all to transmit a passion for music. Learning an instrument can be long and tedious and the approach of some conservatory teachers is sometimes abrupt and academic. For my part, I favor a playful teaching adapting to the capacities of each one.
My experience as a concert performer in the Jazz/Klezmer group Kanaï Trio, of which I am the founding member, offers me the possibility of extending my teaching to improvisation and to different musical styles (Jazz, Traditional Yiddish/Klezmer Music, Eastern Europe, the Balkans).
My classical music studies at the Conservatoire Régional de Paris allowed me to develop my instrumental technique but also my knowledge of musical analysis, music theory, singing and music history. I consider these theoretical fundamentals essential to the study of an instrument. The student must above all understand the music before being able to flourish in the interpretation of the piece.
One of the common difficulties for beginners or intermediate students is not being able to manage the air well, running out of steam quickly and thus losing the pleasure of performing an entire piece. In reality, the clarinet does not require the endurance of a marathon runner, but just an appropriate breathing technique: I have therefore developed a method based on breathing exercises, the search for good posture (specific to each pupil) and physical relaxation (with the elimination of tensions and parasitic gestures). The student will also have simple and effective technical tools to quickly overcome difficulties (placement of the mouthpiece, precise positioning of the fingers, etc.).
See you soon ! :)

I have taken a real passion for teaching since obtaining my diploma from the CRR of Paris and has already been offering private lessons for several years. My career as a classical conservatory musician and Jazz/Klezmer concert performer gives me the opportunity to offer a varied education.
I did a large part of my studies at the Royal College of Music and at the Paris Regional Conservatory in the class of Franck Amet (professor at the CNSM in Lyon) then Alexandre Chabod (soloist at the Paris Opera).
At the same time, I took Jazz lessons in the class of Pascal Gaubert then within a CMA9 course but also in Klezmer with Heida Johannsdottir (founder of the Klezmer Kaos group).
These different lessons have enriched my educational experience both humanly and musically.

About Me
My lessons always take place in a friendly, supportive environment.I adapt my methodology to the specific needs of my students and give them the tools to improve with confidence and musical awareness!
Learning an instrument can be sometimes difficult, especially at the beginning, it's easy to get lost and discouraged. With just one lesson a week, we spend most of the time by ourselves trying to figure out how to make a sound with the instrument!
This is why my priority is to teach the student how to become his own teacher.
As musicians, we keep learning and improving throughout our lives; but most of the time we are by ourselves in the practice room and we have to take on both roles to progress: being our own teacher and student.
By experimentation, research and active listening, we will develop your own personalised method together.
The development of your musical creativity will also be our main goal; understanding the meaning of each piece, searching together for different ways of interpreting and the technical execution on the instrument to achieve it.
I believe in teaching in a way that encourages exchange between student and teacher and I never try to impose a rigid method on my students. Although serious and demanding, I adapt to the pace of each student.

Piano/Keyboard Lessons (Music Theory, Aural Training, Sight Reading, Composition and Performance)Music is a globally recognized form of expression that connects and unites us in various ways. As a musician, I have tried to inspire people from different walks of life to feel the joy and love of playing the piano and creating music.
I have composed music for multiple bands, played for choirs, and accompanied many influential artists.
I cleared the Grade 8 examination from Trinity College of Music, London in piano performance.
My main goal as a music teacher is not just to provide training and lessons, but to inspire students to continue to learn and gain skills on their own and master the art of music composition.
I offer classes both at the student's location and my own. My curriculum blends aural training, sight reading, performance, and composition (tailored to each student's proficiency level).

Solfège and musical culture (History, analysis ...).Former student of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, editor-in-chief of the magazine Avant-Scène Opéra, editor for the Philharmonie du Luxembourg, I offer you the following lessons.
Music theory and musical culture are essential tools for understanding and making music.
Music theory, because it allows you to master the technical tools that allow you to make music, is fundamental for anyone who wants to progress in their instrument.
Musical culture makes it possible to understand what goes on in music beyond the technique. From this knowledge (established over a lot of listening) we can develop an interpretation and go beyond technical issues.
For music theory lessons only, I constantly articulate the different musical parameters (rhythm, intonation, ear, etc.) and draw my training from the repertoire, which has the advantage of making music from the start. Small technical exercises also allow you to focus on one or the other parameter, but the perspective remains mainly that of a global approach placing the music at the center.
As far as musical culture is concerned, I use each of my professional experiences (Musicologist, playwright and music critic) to transmit my knowledge to you.
Thus we will approach the history of music through works (history of forms and languages), interpretation and places of music.
It is mainly through the study of documents (texts of musical criticism, iconography, scores, musical instruments...) that transmission takes place. Knowledge completes and informs this documentary study. Finally the study of document and the erudition have only one goal: to enlighten the listening of the works which I place at the heart of my teaching.

Beginner to Advanced Lessons for Guitar Players for all agesAfter dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning.
I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc.
For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!)
Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other!
One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it.
I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and a distinction in Fashion Communication which included my music playing at Central Saint Martins. I also have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before.
The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.
