Trusted teacher: I studied maths at GCSE, A-Level and first year University, achieving an A*, A and passed respectively. I left maths after completing first year to study my passion in politics and philosophy. I have privately tutored maths for 3 years, focusing upon students who struggle with maths and only wish to acquire a good grade at GCSE before leaving maths behind. Previous students have struggled with learning difficulties such as dyscalculia and dyspraxia, but ultimately achieved the grades they required. I teach students directly off their own needs. My first session will include a thorough analysis of the strengths and weaknesses within maths before lessons being structured around that. Lessons will follow the specifications of the student's examination board so that all lessons are completely geared towards passing exams, with no extra time spent on topics which fall outside of exactly what is required. Ordinary lesson structures often follow the form of first understanding the theory of the topic, before working through examples of increasing difficulty. The lesson will usually be concluded with a test using examination examples. Heavy emphasis on past papers is used if exams are in the vicinity. The style of the teaching will be (very) informal in nature, as a result this makes the learning process more enjoyable for students as they will often be asked to do things which normal teachers will not ask them to do, this is including but not limited to: chocolates/sweets for good results, forfeits (not punishments) for not doing required homework etc. As a result of my informal style, I only ask that students who choose to study with me to be engaged with what is going on and wanting to learn. This style doesn't work for those who are being forced into tutoring. Finally, thanks to the combination of my expertise with those who do not like maths and my informal style, I will often look for real life examples in the maths so to make it much easier to remember. Algebra will be reduced to apples and bananas, complex fractions to pizza slices etc
