As a language teacher I want to teach you practical and functional Mandarin. As a culture teacher, I want to give you a nuanced understanding of China. Besides being a teacher, I am also your coach and guide you through the joyful and challenging moments of your journey of learning Chinese language and culture. I have 11 years of experience teaching Chinese, at Dutch secondary schools, HBO and also private lessons to adults, usually for business purposes who have daily contact with Chinese companies and customers. Some of them start from 0, some have lived and worked in China for several years, and also students who have studied China would like to improve their Chinese language skills to native speaker level. I really enjoy teaching students with different backgrounds and experiences. When Princess Amalia, Princess of Orange, heir to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, chose to study Chinese during her secondary school, the Dutch television program RTL Boulevard interviewed me. I am also, together with my students at the Dutch secondary school, on TV of SBS 6 program 'Holland van Boven'. There are also several other interviews on local news in the Netherlands. My private student describes me as: “Jessica is a wonderful teacher and I am very happy to have met her. She is fun to learn with, but also has a very clear vision of where we need to go and can follow exactly the mapped out path.” My student comments on my lessons as follows: “The teacher is very active and does a lot of preparation for the lessons. The interaction is very good, talking a lot about all kinds of different topics helps to improve my Chinese.” The Chinese language is always considered a very difficult language.
